First Sergeant Leael Gidoni (may his name be blessed) fell in battle fighting terrorists on the last day of Operation Tzuk Eitan.
There is one overriding trait that defines Leael’s character: the constant smile on his lips. Leael loved life to the full but never failed to give of himself to others.
Leael was born and grew up in Katamon. Jerusalem. He was a big fan of the basketball team, Hapoel Jerusalem, and he was always willing to help anyone who needed assistance (always with a ready smile).
The project, which is named after Leael’s name, has a noble goal: to ensure that no boy or girl in school is left hungry. Unfortunately, there is a large number of children who arrive at school without a mid-morning meal. This is due to the challenging economic situation faced by many families – a predicament which is very hard to escape from. Starving children should not exist here in Israel. Every day a team of volunteers makes 120 sandwiches along with 120 cartons of Tropit. These are distributed to the managers of each relevant school – and from there to the hungry schoolchildren. The sandwiches are rich in nutrition and are distributed every Friday along with a healthy treat for Shabbat.
Our mission is to spread Leael’s smile and character to give to an additional 80 children (totaling 200 children every day) a sandwich for the mid-morning break. We truly need your help and assistance in this vital project.
This is your and our opportunity to give much-needed food for more unfortunate children, to strengthen the family and to ensure Leael’s smile remains forever.
Please join us and donate at least 67 Shekels to keep one child for one week.
We wish all of you a Happy and Sweet New Year. Shannah Tovah!
